CURRENT MESSAGE SERIES

Our message series is “Get Smart – A series on Wisdom.”  The US economy is in the tank. Record numbers of people are without jobs. Healthcare is a mess. Our home values and retirement accounts are significantly less valuable. And this might just be the start of it all. As Christians we turn to God in times of trouble. What should we ask from God? What should we say? Israel’s King Solomon was given an opportunity to ask for anything from God. So what did he ask for? Riches? Power? Dominion? … No. He asked for wisdom. Not only did God grant him wisdom, but through that God-given wisdom, Solomon was one of the world’s most successful leaders. We could probably use a little bit of that wisdom in our present social and economic condition.  So join us as we look at God’s Word to “Get Smart” together!

ITEMS NEEDED FOR VBS

If you have any of the following items to loan to the church for VBS, please see Janae. We are looking for an open-sided tent canopy and any "hero" related items (capes, masks, etc). We also need "funky" items for decorations. Search your basements and garages for any unusual items that we could use to decorate the church (shiny wrapping paper, old electronics, oversized items, stacking crates, electrical tubing, Christmas lights, etc).

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

VBS will be THIS WEEK Monday through Friday, July 26-30, 6:30-8:30 PM for ages 4 through 11.  Please pass the word to your friends and neighbors, and especially invite those who do not have a church home anywhere.

CHURCH COOK-OUT

NEXT SUNDAY, August 1, following the morning Worship Service, we will enjoy a church Cook-Out.  This will be a follow-up event for our VBS, so we will have guests.  Hot dogs and hamburgers will be provided, and we are asking that you bring a dessert or other side dish to share.  This Cook-Out will be in place of our regular potluck for the month of August.  Plan now to join us for a fun time of food and fellowship!

VBS CRAFT SUPPLIES NEEDED

Please place any donated items at the Information Center today.  Thank you for your help!  We are in need of the following craft supplies: Card stock - colored or white, postcard stamps, mailing labels – blank, individually packaged food items (Christmas-y) i.e. hot cocoa mix, candy canes, etc, Christmas tags, paper, ribbon, etc, roll paper, rubber bands, brown or white plain lunch sacks, and stickers.

VBS SNACK ITEMS NEEDED

Please put any items in the kitchen that you are donating.  Thank you!  We are in need of the following: cases of bottled water (8 or 10 oz.), 10 cans – breadsticks, 3 jars – pizza or spaghetti sauce, 5 cans – crescent rolls, 16 oz. grated mozzarella cheese, 2 jars – Alfredo sauce, large bag – small pretzel sticks, 5 cans – biscuit dough, 16 oz. chocolate chips, 16 oz. mild cheddar block cheese, pizza flavored gold fish crackers, regular gold fish, gold fish pretzels, chocolate graham cracker fish, or money donations to purchase snack items.
